YouTube Setup
Connect YouTube in one click through the verified Google app, or run through your own Google Cloud OAuth client.
YouTube publishing needs a video file. The first line of the post becomes the video title and the rest becomes the description.
The Short Way: One-Click Connect
YouTube now connects through 1MarketingTool's verified Google app, so uploading videos no longer requires registering your own OAuth credentials. Open the YouTube channel and click Connect — that is the whole setup for most people.
Follow-up comments on YouTube need one extra permission; the channel shows a badge naming it and lets you reconnect from that prompt. See Follow-up Comments.
The Long Way: Your Own Google Cloud Project
Power users can still run through their own Google project by pasting a Client ID and Secret behind the Advanced option. The rest of this page covers that path — you do not need it unless you specifically want uploads attributed to your own OAuth client.
1. Create a Google Cloud Project
Create a new project in Google Cloud Console and make sure it is selected before continuing.
2. Enable YouTube Data API v3
Search for YouTube Data API v3 in the API library.
Enable the API for the selected project.
3. Configure OAuth Consent
Search for the OAuth consent screen or Google Auth Platform setup.
Fill in the app information. You do not need a logo for local testing.
Choose External for the audience.
Add the exact Google account that will connect to YouTube as a test user.
4. Create OAuth Credentials
Create an OAuth client ID.
Choose Desktop app. Do not create a web app and do not enter a redirect URI.
Copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
5. Connect in 1MarketingTool
Paste the Client ID and Client Secret into the YouTube channel, choose visibility and Shorts mode, save, then click Connect with YouTube.
Choose the same Google account you added as a test user.
Choose the YouTube channel or brand account.
Grant access and continue.
The channel should show connected.
Notes
- If you skip test users, Google can fail with
403: access_denied. - Unverified Google apps can issue refresh tokens that expire after roughly 7 days; reconnect when needed.
- Unverified apps can keep uploads private even when you request public visibility.
- YouTube classifies Shorts automatically for vertical or square videos 3 minutes or shorter. 1MarketingTool can add a
#Shortshint when Shorts mode is enabled.
