Pinterest Setup

Create a Pinterest app, configure the hosted OAuth redirect, and choose Sandbox or Production posting.

Pinterest publishing uses your own Pinterest app. Pins require media: attach an image or video before posting. A video Pin also needs a cover image.

Use this redirect URI exactly:

1. Create the Pinterest App

Go to Pinterest Developers and create an app for your Pinterest business account.

2. Add the Redirect URL

Add the hosted OAuth redirect URL in the app settings. This HTTPS bounce returns the login to the desktop app; token exchange still happens on your machine with your own app secret.

3. Pick Sandbox or Production

Use Sandbox to test without app review. Sandbox tokens are generated in the Pinterest console and post to sandbox data, not your real public boards.

For real posting, request Standard access from Pinterest. Trial access cannot create production Pins.

4. Connect in 1MarketingTool

Paste the App ID, App Secret, Board ID, and environment. For Sandbox, also paste the Sandbox access token from the Pinterest console. For Production, click Connect with Pinterest after your app has Standard access.

Notes

  • Pinterest title comes from the first line of the post; the rest becomes the description.
  • Image Pins upload the image directly. Video Pins upload the video and use the attached image as a cover.
  • Production Pins return a public pinterest.com/pin/... URL. Sandbox Pins do not have a public URL.
