Frequently asked questions
How long should a title tag be?
Google truncates desktop titles at roughly 600 pixels — about 50–60 characters. This tool measures the actual pixel width of your title (not just the character count) so you know exactly when it will be cut off.
What is the ideal meta description length?
Aim for 120–155 characters. Desktop snippets show up to ~158 characters and mobile around 120. Longer descriptions still help, but the tail may be truncated with an ellipsis.
Why measure pixels instead of characters?
Google truncates by pixel width, not character count. A title full of wide letters (W, M) is cut off sooner than one with narrow letters (i, l). This tool measures real pixel width using the same Arial font Google renders.
Does Google always use my title and description?
Not always — Google may rewrite titles and generate its own description from page content when it thinks that better matches a query. Well-crafted tags are still your strongest signal and are used most of the time.
