What is an HTTP redirect chain?
A redirect chain is a sequence of HTTP responses where each response redirects the browser to a new URL. Chains longer than 2–3 hops slow down page load and can dilute link equity.
What's the difference between a 301 and a 302 redirect?
A 301 (Moved Permanently) tells search engines to transfer all link equity to the new URL. A 302 (Found) signals a temporary move and keeps equity on the original.
Which response headers matter most for SEO?
Key ones are X-Robots-Tag (can block indexing even without meta robots), Strict-Transport-Security (signals HTTPS preference), and Link rel=canonical if returned via header instead of HTML.
