How the checker works
Paste a URL
Drop in any public page. We fetch it server-side and read its <head> — exactly like a social crawler would.
Preview every platform
Switch between Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Discord to see the real share card each one builds.
Fix what’s flagged
The inspector grades every Open Graph and Twitter Card tag, so you know precisely what to add or trim.
What gets checked
Every scan grades the tags that decide how your page looks in search results and social feeds:
- Title & meta description — presence and length against Google’s ~60 / ~155 character limits.
- og:title, og:description, og:type, og:url, og:site_name — the core Open Graph set every platform reads.
- og:image — presence, reachability and 1200×630 dimensions for a rich preview card.
- twitter:card — so X renders a large image instead of a small thumbnail.
- Canonical, viewport, charset, lang & favicon — the technical signals crawlers expect.
Frequently asked questions
What is an Open Graph tag?
Open Graph (og:) tags are meta tags in your page’s <head> that tell Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp and other platforms what title, description and image to show when your link is shared. Without them, shared links appear as bare text.
Why does my link preview look wrong or empty?
The most common causes are a missing og:image, an og:image URL that isn’t publicly reachable, an image that isn’t 1200×630, or a missing twitter:card tag. This checker flags each of these so you can pinpoint the issue.
How do I refresh a preview after fixing my tags?
Update your meta tags and re-deploy, then re-scan here. Note that platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn cache previews — use their official debuggers (Sharing Debugger / Post Inspector) to force a re-scrape once your tags are live.
What image size should I use for Open Graph?
Use 1200×630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) for the large summary cards on Facebook, LinkedIn and X. Keep the file under ~5MB and host it on a public, fast URL.
