Hreflang Tag Generator
Generate valid hreflang link tags for international SEO. Add each language/region and its URL, include x-default, and copy a clean, reciprocal-ready block for your <head> or sitemap.
How it works
Add each locale
Pick a language and optional region code, then paste in the URL for that version of the page.
Set x-default
Add the fallback URL shown to users whose language or region has no dedicated version.
Copy the tags
Paste the generated <link> tags into the <head> of every language version — each page must link to all others.
Frequently asked questions
What is hreflang?
Hreflang is an HTML attribute that tells search engines which version of a page to serve to users based on language and regional preference. It prevents duplicate-content issues and ensures the right audience sees the right localised version.
Do I need a region code?
Only if you have the same language targeting different countries — for example en-US, en-GB and en-AU. If you only have one English version, use just "en".
What is x-default?
x-default is the fallback URL Google shows when none of the hreflang values match the user's language or region. It is typically your homepage or a language-selector page.
Must every page link to all its alternates?
Yes. Every page in the set must include hreflang tags pointing to all other versions, including itself. A one-sided link is treated as an error by Google.
