The local-first Semrush alternative.
Semrush bundles a lot of SEO power into a cloud SaaS — and a $140+/month bill. 1MarketingTool runs a lighter version of that workflow on your desktop: keyword research, site audits, Search Console performance, AI content, and AI visibility across seven AI engines. You pay your own API providers and a one-time license, not a per-seat subscription.
Why look for a Semrush alternative?
The friction that pushes indie hackers off Semrush.
$140–$500/month per seat
Pro is $139.95, Guru is $249.95, Business is $499.95 — all monthly, per user. Add a teammate or hit a project limit and the bill jumps again.
Your data lives on their servers
Every project, keyword list, and crawl sits in Semrush’s cloud. Cancel the plan and you lose access to your own history.
AI features are a separate upsell
AI Toolkit, ContentShake AI, and AI search visibility tracking come as add-ons or higher tiers — even though Semrush already has your data.

Frequently asked
Honest answers about how this compares.
Is 1MarketingTool really cheaper than Semrush?
Semrush starts at $139.95/month — that’s $1,679/year for a single seat, $2,999/year for Guru. 1MarketingTool is free to start, and Pro is a one-time license: $29 for one device, $59 for three, $89 for five. You pay your own API costs (DataForSEO, OpenAI/Claude) which are usage-based and usually far lower than the seat fee they replace.
Does 1MarketingTool have the same SEO data as Semrush?
1MarketingTool pulls keyword and SERP data from DataForSEO, which is the same upstream Google data many SEO tools use. You bring your own DataForSEO key and pay only for the queries you run — no inflated reseller margin.
Can I track rankings the way I do in Semrush?
Not with a daily tracker. 1MarketingTool reads average position, clicks and impressions per query from Google Search Console (Performance → Search Performance) and can check where your domain ranks for any keyword on demand through your DataForSEO key. If daily position tracking across hundreds of keywords is the job, Semrush is the better fit.
What about AI features for content and AI search visibility?
Both are built in. Content Machine writes with your own OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key, an AI CLI you already use, or a local model. AI Visibility (GEO/AEO) tracks your brand across Google AI Overview, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok — mentions, citations, position, sentiment, and share of voice against competitors — without an upsell tier.
Can I import my Semrush projects?
Most teams just re-add the domains and keyword lists — Semrush keeps your data behind their cloud, so a one-time copy/paste of the keyword list is usually all you need.
