Threads Setup

Create a Meta app with the Access the Threads API use case, add permissions, register the OAuth redirect, accept the tester invite, and connect Threads in 1MarketingTool.

Threads publishing uses your own Meta app through the Access the Threads API use case. Keep the app in Development mode — that lets you post to your own Threads profile with no App Review. The Threads credentials live under the use case's Settings tab and are different from the app's general App ID/Secret.

Use this redirect URI exactly:

https://oauth.1marketingtool.com/cb

1. Open the Access the Threads API Use Case

In Meta for Developers, open your app's dashboard and click Customize the Access the Threads API use case. If you don't have an app yet, create one first and add the Access the Threads API use case.

2. Add the Required Permissions

On the Permissions and features tab, add threads_basic and threads_content_publish.

3. Set the Redirect URL and Copy Your Credentials

Open the Settings tab of the use case. Set Redirect Callback URLs to https://oauth.1marketingtool.com/cb, then copy the Threads app ID and Threads app secret shown here.

These are the Threads credentials under the use case Settings — not the app's general App ID/Secret under App settings → Basic.

4. Paste the Credentials into 1MarketingTool

In 1MarketingTool, open the Threads channel, paste the App ID and App Secret, and Save. The badge shows Saved, needs test. Credentials are stored in your OS keychain and never uploaded. Don't click Connect yet.

5. Add Yourself as a Threads Tester

While the app is in Development mode, only accepted testers can authorize it. Go to App roles → Roles → Add People, choose Threads Tester, enter your Threads handle, and click Add.

6. Open Permissions on the Website in Threads

In the Threads app (or threads.com), go to Settings → Other settings → Permissions on the website.

7. Accept the Tester Invitation

Open the Invitation tab and click Accept on the tester invite from your app.

Skip this and the Connect step can't authorize — Development-mode apps only work for accepted testers.

8. Connect in 1MarketingTool

Back in 1MarketingTool, click Connect with Threads. On the Threads consent screen, keep the access granted and click Continue as your handle.

9. Test the Connection

The channel flips to Connected with roughly 60 days of validity. Click Test connection, or Send test post — you'll see a Test post sent confirmation with a View post link.

10. Verify the Post on Threads

Open your Threads profile to see the test post live — end-to-end publishing works.

Notes

  • The Threads App ID/Secret come from the use case's Settings tab, not App settings → Basic.
  • Text posts publish today; image and video support comes later, so no media is uploaded yet.
  • The login lasts about 60 days — reconnect from the channel when the days-left badge says so.
