LinkedIn Setup

Create a LinkedIn developer app, add the required products, and connect OAuth2 posting to your personal feed.

LinkedIn publishing uses a BYO app. The current channel posts to your personal LinkedIn feed, not a company Page. LinkedIn Page publishing is a separate reserved channel and requires LinkedIn approval for the Community Management API.

Use this redirect URI exactly:

1. Create the App

Go to LinkedIn Developers and create an app. LinkedIn requires the app to be linked to a LinkedIn Page you manage, even though posts are sent to your personal feed.

2. Add Products

On the Products tab, add both:

  • Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect
  • Share on LinkedIn

Wait until both products show as added. Missing either product can make OAuth fail with an unauthorized scope error.

3. Add Redirect and Copy Values

Open the Auth tab, add the redirect URI, then copy the Client ID and Client Secret.

4. Connect in 1MarketingTool

Paste the Client ID and Client Secret into the LinkedIn channel, save, then click Connect with LinkedIn. Approve the browser consent flow and run Test.

Notes

  • Required scopes are openid, profile, and w_member_social.
  • Text posts, images, and video are supported by the current publisher. A post that mixes images and video is sent as separate LinkedIn posts.
  • Video posting can require additional LinkedIn approval depending on your app access.
